FAQ

Stay tuned, we'll answer all your questions here. And in the meantime, send us your questions here: hillaryandjamie@gmail.com

Gerrardo asks, "Is d aftah pahdi for campers only?"
Certainly not! Everyone should come hang out at the after party as late as they like. If we can, maybe we'll set up a "crash pad" tent for those with more flexible plans.

Marty wants to know, "If it's a picnic, does that mean I need to bring my own food?"
Of course not! We'll be having the reception catered and the after party will feature some of Jamie's great BBQ, grilled by friends and family that want to help out.

Ali wonders, "If it's a camping wedding should I still wear a suit?"
Welll, the camping is the after-party, and for that, jeans or sweats and flannels and puff vests are totally cool. Buuut for the ceremony and reception we'd really love to see you looking your best, just as we both will be. Suit & tie, suspenders & a bowtie, your finest linens, just come with some styyyle.

All the ladies are curious about shoes
No heels. Seriously, the grass and heels really won't mix well. We recommend a comfy wedge or flats, and maybe a change of sandals if you like! The initial walk from the car has a steep enough incline you may want something flat, and a hand to hold (see below).

What is the terrain of Laurel and Gillespie like?
Laurel is just off South Park Dr. and from the parking area there is a short path of a couple hundred yards to the ceremony and reception area. The path is mostly gravel and inclines downward slightly at the end. If it's necessary for you to drive in we will be able to let a couple cars down. The ceremony will be on the lawn and we'll have chairs and blankets and rugs set up for guests to sit. The picnic area has park picnic tables and hardpack ground.

Gillespie is down a 1/4 mile gravel road off South Park Dr. There is parking for 14 vehicles which we will coordinate. There is a hardpack gravel area, a cement-floor barn structure, asphalt path and patio, and a more evenly grown lawn area. Camping will be under the redwoods. We'll have greeters to help you get situated and start building out our little tent city.

Can I park overnight for the after party?
We have been given 14 overnight parking passes for Gillespie so we'll be coordinating those as best we can. We encourage carpooling as much as possible and are checking with the Park on whether we can leave cars at Laurel late/overnight.

What should I bring for the after party?
A great packing list would include a bag with a change of clothes and shoes and a hanger for your fancy stuff, a warm jacket for the evening, a hat or scarf if you get chilly, a small flashlight or headlamp, and if you're camping a tent, sleeping bag, pillow, lantern if you have one, toiletries and sleeping clothes. We'll be sitting around the camp fire so any instruments and tasty sharing treats would be great too! Light-up toys? Oh yeah!!

What about gifts? Should we bring one?
While we understand bringing a gift may seem customary at any party, because we'll be toting a number of things in and out of the site already we'd appreciate any gifts you're giving be sent to our home (974 Peralta Ave, Albany 94706). Of course, a card or other small token would be no problem for us to receive there.
